ZEROX
ZEROX was born out of a deep love for music subculture, especially our twin passions of punk and disco, but with everything from jazz to acid house in the mix. Alongside cult movies, left-field fashion, and pop art, these influences shaped a vision we couldn’t find anywhere else in the city centre. No bar or venue was channeling these passions, so with an itch to scratch, we began.
Now rooted on Newcastle’s beautiful, historic Quayside, ZEROX is the realisation of that dream: an exciting, versatile space inspired by global road trips, late-night DJ sets, extensive record collecting, midnight movies with friends, underground zines, and the propulsive thrill of mind-blowing art. Drawing on 25 years of running events, gigs and clubs in Newcastle, ZEROX became the natural culmination of excitement, experience, vision, and passion.
The name reaches back to the roots of how underground culture once thrived: before the internet, before social media, when ideas spread through DIY zines photocopied on Xerox machines and passed from hand to hand -The very physical embodiment of “connection through communication.” These handmade zines carried the lifeblood of punk, post-punk, hip hop, and acid house, forming communities and sparking cultural revolutions. As a nod to this legacy and to Adam Ant’s “Zerox Machine,” a record close to our hearts, ZEROX found both its name and its purpose.
At its heart, ZEROX is built on open-mindedness, inclusivity, and a deep love of music, fashion, art, and cult cinema. It’s about warmth and connection, about sparking inspiration, about creating a space where everyone can feel welcome, excited, and alive.
ZEROX is more than a night out, it’s a city-centre hangout created by passionate people for passionate people, a place where deeper musical genres are mined and diversity is not just celebrated, but lived.
